You’re going to love this Smoked Cinnamon Apple Whiskey Buck recipe. It’s made with just a handful of simple ingredients. Say hello to your new favorite cocktail!
A classic twist
I love taking a classic cocktail and adding new flavors. Usually, this is to make it a holiday flavored cocktail, and in this case, the perfect winter cocktail. Taking a traditional whiskey buck and combining it with apple juice gives a holiday winter flavored twist to this cocktail. Whiskey, smoked cinnamon, and crisp apple make up this refreshing Smoked Cinnamon Apple Whiskey Buck. It’s sweet, spicy, and crisp and ready in minutes.

What is a Whiskey Buck
Essentially, a buck is a mixed drink of citrus juice, gingerale or ginger beer and liquor. There are lots of variations, like the Moscow Mule, which is essentially a vodka buck with a fancy name. Whiskey Bucks are also called Whiskey Gingers, and Whiskey Highballs. This version of a whiskey buck is infused with crisp apple and the flavors of cinnamon for the holidays.
What you’ll need
- Whiskey: Often made with rye, but you can use bourbon, Irish whiskey or Scotch.
- Apple Juice: Be sure to use 100% apple juice, since this will be the base of your mixture.
- Ginger Ale: You can use either Ginger Ale or Ginger beer depending on what you have at home. For this cocktail I prefer using Ginger w as it’s more subtle and sweet with less carbonation than Ginger beer. It doesn’t compete with the whiskey and apple flavors.
- Cinnamon: Smoking the cinnamon gives the perfect subtle flavor of sweet and spicy.
- Ice: Use the large ice cubes to avoid watering down your drink.
This cocktail is bubbly and light: a great party drink! Try it as a:
•Afternoon drink
•Dinner party drink
•Before dinner drink (aperitif)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 8 oz fresh apple juice
- 2 oz whiskey
- 4 oz ginger ale
- 2 apple slices
- Light the cinnamon sticks and place the serving glasses over it. Let it smoke for 3-4 minutes.
- Mix together the apple juice, whiskey, and ginger ale. Serve over an ice cube and garnish with apple slice and cinnamon stick.
Enjoy,
