WHAT IS SUKHA BHEL

Sukha bhel is a Bhel chaat that you can get at chaat stands. Bhel puri is drizzled with green coriander chutney and tamarind date chutney which makes it delicious and mouth watering but due to the liquids added it has to be eaten asap else it can become soggy. Enter Sukha Bhel, it had all the masalas, onions, tomatoes and more minus the chutneys.

Sukha means dry, this sukha/dry bhel recipe is an easy grab and goes chaat and perfect for mid-day hunger pangs or an easy chai snack.

NOTES FOR THE MOST DELICIOUS SUKHA BHEL:

  • You get bags of plain mamra and bags of bhel mix which is pre mixed mamra and puris, if you use the premix, salt is already added and there’s no need to add additional salt to your chaat.
  • If using plain mamra make your own mix by combining 3 cups mamra / puffed rice, 3 tablespoon plain sev, 8 roughly broken puris, and 1 teaspoon salt.
  • Use whatever fruit is in season. I used pomegranate for its juicy tart crunch but you could mix in bite sized apple or pear pieces.
