Toka Box | July Tiger Box
Our July Toka Box is here and its all about tigers this month! We’re sharing what’s inside alongside Little Mirchi’s thoughts on the activity. Toka Box is a monthly subscription box that has a theme every month. Themes vary between religion and culture, often revolving around activities and social conversations. You can see past box reviews here, here and here.
This month we received the book, Tiger on a Tree by Anushka Ravishanker and a fun sock puppet craft. The box this month comes with the sock, permanent markers, pre cut stickers, glue and silly eyes (which Little Mirchi somehow ended up losing mid way through the craft!). Because the craft items come ready to go, think pre cut, pre measured etc. I’m able to have Little Mirchi manage the craft independently. She loved decorating the tiger’s “tree” with flowers and grass and even had a good laugh when she lost the tiger’s eyes and had to draw them on. As she crafted I read Tiger on a Tree aloud, connecting the craft to the book. Once she was done making her Tiger she was so excited to hide him and set him free. It was also a great way to show her the simple yet sweet excitement of sock puppets, I see a lot of those in my near future.
Everything for the activity is included: This is one of my favorite things about the Toka Box, I never have to scramble and look for things, it’s one box with everything included. You can tell each box is carefully curated with thought behind each item.
I love the variety of themes the boxes have had so far and the different books that get featured. It’s nice to be able to continuously grow our home library of South Asian inspired books.
Toka Box, is a wonderful a monthly treat thats filled with hand picked childrens books, arts or crafts and a kid friendly recipe that makes learning fun. Each Toka Box subtly builds life skills from patience to problem-solving and incorporates academic themes such as reading, math, history, science and the arts. The boxes come tailored for two different age groups. The Toka Junior is for ages 3-5 and Toka Explorer for ages 5-8. We’re ambassadors for the Junior box as it’s age appropriate for Little Mirchi.
While I was compensated to write about Toka Box, all opinions expressed are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Love Laugh Mirch.
