Hubby Darling’s 2011 Top Picks!

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.” -Edith Lovejoy Pierce

Another year gone, another one to look forward to! This year seemed to have just flown by. Last week Hubby Darling and I celebrated our 2nd Wedding Anniversary! Yes, 2nd… not really sure where the time has gone, but I don’t feel like it’s been 2 years. We still feel like we are dating… just  with a lot less closet space =X I wouldn’t mind feeling like this 20 Anniversary’s later 🙂 Since we were in Florida with family for the holidays, we had gone to celebrate the week before with Afternoon Tea at Gordon Ramsay’s “The London Bar”, which I look forward to sharing [review/post to follow].

For my last post of 2011 I figured it was only appropriate to have a “top picks of 2011” but from  Hubby Darlings view. He is after all, the one who encouraged the start of this blog and my most trusted kitchen tool… my personal guinea pig. So here they are [in no particular order], HD’s favorite dishes on the blog of 2011!

Fresh Berry Custard Tart
HD: “I’ve never liked tarts, but you can make this berry custard tart anytime. The custard was sweet and creamy, berries mmmMm. Perfect summertime treat.”
HD: "This reminds me of our first wedding anniversary in Newport, RI. The Afternoon Tea with warm scones, curried chicken salad sandwiches, pastries + more. I never thought you would be able to replicate the curried chicken, but you did and it was awesome!!"

The Strawberry Covered Chocolate Cupcake
HD: “Strawberries!!! I love strawberries 🙂 This was one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. You know I don’t like most frosting, but I loved this whipped strawberry frosting and fluffy chocolate cupcake.”
double shot cappucino cupcake love laugh mirch 3
HD: “My birthday cupcake!!! The was the best combo, especially since you surprised me with these at the Beer Garden! They were soft, fluffy and the frosting was like a cool cappuccino.”
Cardamom Walnut Chai Cake
HD: “This reminded me of the cakes that I used to eat in India as a kid. The cardamon cake compliments your chai perfectly and I can eat this anytime of day :)”

2011 has been an exciting and delicious food journey for me us… looking forward to learning and sharing more with you all in 2012. Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy, new year full of love, laughs, and a little bit of mirch!
