Motherhood lately: finding magic in the everyday. Motherhood lately: finding magic in the everyday. 🪔✨

As Arya gets older, I’m learning that keeping our culture and traditions close doesn’t always have to mean elaborate plans or big celebrations.

Sometimes it’s a bhajan playing while she does homework, a little Diwali ki safai together, revisiting childhood stories, or a quiet Sunday spent painting and watching Bollywood.

I’ve always believed it’s the little everyday efforts that leave the biggest footprints on our children’s hearts. And as we navigate these teenage years, I’m holding onto that a little tighter. ✨

So grateful for brands like @kulture_khazana that make weaving our culture into everyday moments a little easier.

Tell me, what are some of the little things you do to keep the magic alive at home?
Double Tadka Mixed Dal 🌶️ A little ghar ka khana Double Tadka Mixed Dal 🌶️

A little ghar ka khana to make your dil dhadka 🤭 A mixed dal with two tadkas that brings ALL the magic. Simple, comforting, and always worth going back for seconds.

Diwali: Beyond Love & Light 🪔✨ Diwali, also calle Diwali: Beyond Love & Light 🪔✨

Diwali, also called Deepavali, means “a row of lamps.” Celebrated across Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and some Buddhist communities, each with their own beautiful traditions, stories, and significance.

But beyond the diyas, festive outfits, mithai, and wishes of love and light, there are stories worth knowing and passing down.

The five days of Diwali, and what they teach us:

🪷 Day 1 | Dhanteras: Honoring prosperity, Lord Dhanvantari, and the reminder that good health is one of our greatest forms of wealth.

🪔 Day 2 | Choti Diwali: Celebrating Lord Krishna’s victory over Narakasura, with prayers for protection and longevity.

✨Day 3 | Diwali & Lakshmi Puja: Celebrating the return of Lord Ram, Sita Maa, and Lakshman to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. On Amavasya, we illuminate our homes and welcome Lakshmi Maa, praying for abundance and prosperity.

⛰️ Day 4 | Govardhan Puja: Remembering Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan Hill to protect his community, a lesson in faith, gratitude, and togetherness.

❤️ Day 5 | Bhai Dooj: Celebrating the bond between siblings and the love and blessings behind a sister’s prayers.

Of course, traditions and the order of celebrations vary across regions and families. That’s part of the beauty of our culture.

As a mom and former Sunday school teacher, I believe celebrating our traditions is one thing, but understanding WHY we celebrate them is how we keep their stories alive.

Because when we wish someone love and light, we’re wishing them so much more. Health, hope, abundance, protection, and the strength to find light even in their darkest moments.

May we pass down more than rituals. May we pass down the stories, too. 🪔

Save this for your family, or share it with someone you’re celebrating with this Diwali.

Didi Taught Me, EP 01: How to Extend a Saree ✨ A Didi Taught Me, EP 01: How to Extend a Saree ✨

A little series for all the things your big sister would’ve taught you.

Kicking things off with a saree trick I’ve sworn by for years, especially for my tall and curvy girls. Because sometimes six yards just isn’t enough for the pleats AND the pallu we want!

Save this for your next saree moment, and tell me, what should Didi share next? 🫶🏽

Diwali party season has officially commenced 🪔✨ @n Diwali party season has officially commenced 🪔✨ @neerja.pr Always the hostess with the mostess. Grateful for a beautiful community celebration with @maxwellsocial 💛
What are we wearing to Diwali parties this year?! What are we wearing to Diwali parties this year?! 🪔

I shared this on stories and it struck a chord with so many of you! And I’m strictly talking about industry parties here, because I think most of our house parties and smaller gatherings are quite chill.

Personally, I’m making an effort to shop my own closet, mix and match pieces I already love, and be more mindful about adding new ones that I can wear well beyond the festive season.

Are you shopping your closet, buying something new, or doing a little bit of both?
The familiar bhajans, the smell of dhoop, a warm d The familiar bhajans, the smell of dhoop, a warm diya… 🪔 It’s these little rituals that make ghar feel like ghar.

May the spirit of Navratri fill your hearts and homes. 🔱✨
Pre-soaked ghee diyas 🪔 less mess, more light ✨ O Pre-soaked ghee diyas 🪔 less mess, more light ✨

One of my favorite little Diwali prep hacks. Make a batch ahead of time and you’ll have ready-to-use jyots/battis whenever you need them, especially during busy puja days.

You’ll need:
✨ Small ice cube tray
✨ Cotton wicks
✨ Ghee

How to:
1. Melt ghee until liquid.
2. Place a wick in each compartment, keeping it upright with a skewer.
3. Pour in ghee, about ¾ full.
4. Let set (refrigerate to speed it up).
5. Pop out + store in a cool, dry place.
That’s it! 🪔

Comment “diya” and I’ll DM you the full guide, links + a few extra tips.

I saw this little matchstick holder and immediatel I saw this little matchstick holder and immediately thought 💭 this would make the cutest dhoop dani for my mandir! 🪔

I light dhoop every day, so having something small, simple, and easy to clean up was exactly what I needed.

If you want one for your mandir too, just comment DHOOP and I’ll send you the link to the dhoop, holder & lighter. ✨
