Balloon arches are such a fun addition to any celebration, they elevate the decor and give it such a whimsical touch. This post includes the step-by-step instructions and supply list so you can DIY your very own balloon arch!

You’ll need:

  • An assortment of large and small balloons, in the color palette of your choice – we used about 75 balloons for a 9 foot balloon arch.
  • Balloon arch strip, or fishing wire
  • Metallic gift ribbon
  • Tape, command hooks, or thumbtacks

Putting it together:

  • Blow up your balloons, you can use a pump or tank to do this. We had neither so we did it the old school way. Two of us and 75 balloons took us a little over an hour.
  • Fish the ends of your balloons through the balloon arch strip, alternating with big and small balloons.
  • If you don’t have this strip you could use fishing wire or thread to wrap around each balloon.
  • Cut your metallic gift ribbon in 6-7 strips that are 2ft long, tie them across the balloon strip
  • Tape the metallic gift ribbons to the wall; you can also use command hooks or thumbtacks to secure

Leval of ease + time:

  • My husband is not a crafty person but has patience when it comes to building things, I am fairly crafty but have zero patience when it comes to building things and we both agreed that while it was painfully annoying to blow up 75 balloons, the project itself was easy.
  • Total time from inflating to hanging was 2 1/2 hours.

Here is a list to  all the materials we used. I have also included balloon arch kits that you can buy which have all the things you’ll need.

  1. Happy birthday to your baby! You are a dream, not a mom! Balloons always delight my children … Such chic decorations are ordered from specialized companies. Personally, I’ve never been able to make an arch out of balloons. Ha ha ha! To be honest, I’ve never tried it))) I always order a balloon arch from local event centers. It’s not cheap to be honest. I see that it is possible to make an arch from balls on your own. I will definitely try it on my daughter’s next birthday! Great post … Thanks for your advice!
