If you love appetizers that feel festive with minimal effort, Hariyali Paneer Pinwheels are about to become your new go-to. They’re flaky, creamy, herbaceous, and just the right amount of zesty, everything you want in a bite-sized party snack. Think of them as the perfect fusion of Indian flavors wrapped in buttery, golden puff pastry. One bite and you get freshness from the herbs, richness from the paneer and cream cheese, and that irresistible crunch from the pastry.
The base of the filling is what makes these pinwheels so good. By soaking the paneer first, it softens beautifully and blends smoothly with cream cheese. Into that creamy filling goes bright handfuls of cilantro, fresh scallion greens, a couple of green chilies for warmth, and a squeeze of lemon for brightness. Garlic powder adds a subtle savory note that ties everything together. The result is a vibrant green Hariyali mixture that’s fragrant, fresh, and bold, exactly what you want in a crowd-pleasing appetizer.
Once the filling is ready, the rest is delightfully simple. A sheet of puff pastry becomes the perfect vessel for all that flavor. Spread, roll, slice, and bake, within minutes the kitchen smells like buttery pastry and toasted herbs. The pinwheels puff up beautifully, revealing that signature green swirl in the center. They’re crisp at the edges, soft and creamy in the middle, and incredibly satisfying.
What I love most is their versatility. These pinwheels taste just as good warm from the oven as they do at room temperature, making them ideal for potlucks, holiday gatherings, game nights, or anytime you want something impressive without spending hours in the kitchen. Pair them with green chutney for an herby punch or tamarind chutney for a sweet-tangy contrast. They don’t need much, just a plate and a hungry crowd.
Hariyali Paneer Pinwheels check all the boxes: easy, flavorful, elegant, and guaranteed to disappear quickly. Whether you’re looking for a festive appetizer or a fun twist on familiar flavors, these little swirls of flaky, herby goodness are the answer.
