Toka Box | June Nutrition Box

It’s that time of the month again where Little Mirchi eagerly awaits the arrival of her Toka Box! We got our June Toka Box earlier this week and are sharing what’s inside! Toka Box is a monthly subscription box that has a theme every month. Some months the themes are religious and culturally base, others revolve around activities and social conversations. In the June box, foods with an Indian flavor and eating a balanced meal are explored. This month we received the book, A Silly Story of Bondapalli and a DIY placemat with nutritional cutouts.
The book, A Silly Story of Bondapalli, tells the tale of a prince, his pickiness when it came to food and his discovery of a favorite dish. It’s relatable to both children and parents, as we all know how picky toddlers can be. It’s always a pleasure to see Little Mirchi’s excitement each month as we get our boxes and when she relates to the books and/or activities. Another sweet touch is the personalized note the Toka Elephant writes to her. It really adds to the personalization of the activity.

I love that the activity comes with everything needed, right down to the tape stickers! This makes crafting as simple as opening the box.

The craft is self contained which means less mess to clean up, parenting win! Aside from a little taping here and there Little Mirchi managed to do the craft by herself. I set everything up for her and she was excited to get started. Once her placemat was dried and ready we discussed different food groups as she placed the cutouts accordingly on the placemat. This was a great way to teach her about nutrition, a balanced meal and the importance of eating everything on her plate. You can see her in full action over Stories on my Instagram, hurry before it expires! As each box arrives I see her confidence to tackle these crafts independently rise higher and higher.

Our monthly Toka Box always arrives with hand picked children’s books, arts or crafts and a kid friendly recipe that makes learning fun. Each box subtly builds life skills from patience to problem-solving and incorporates academic themes such as reading, math, history, science and the arts. The boxes come tailored for two different age groups. The “Toka Junior” is for ages 3-5 and “Toka Explorer” for ages 5-8.  I’m an ambassador for the Junior box as it’s age appropriate for Little Mirchi.
