Indian Afternoon Tea | Menu Ideas + Recipes
Welcome back to our series of hosting Indian Afternoon Tea, in partnership with Tea India. In the first part of this three series post we included invitation ideas and table setting inspiration. Today’s post will include menu ideas with recipes.
Since I knew we would be serving Tea India‘s new line of individuality wrapped teas which provide the perfect dose of flavor and comfort in every cup, I wanted to created a menu that complimented the two flavors, Assam black and green tea. These teas come individually wrapped, so they were perfect to serve at my afternoon tea where guests had the option to choose between flavors and each cup was as fresh as the first. In addition to the teas, I served a refreshing sparkling water with raspberries.

Keeping true to flavors inspired by India I offered a selection of modern menu items with flairs of traditional flavor. This included savory items such as mango chutney + cheddar tea sandwiches and mini samosas with a mix of desserts including a pistachio rose cake and creamy cardamom custard. Afternoon tea is all about a variety of sweets and treats so I mixed homemade goods with store bought items for a variety of foods and flavors.
Menu items created:
Savory
Mango chutney + white cheddar on white wheat bread
Cucumber + chive cream cheese on brown bread
Corn + Ricotta phyllo cups
Sweet
Cardamom custard
Menu items bought:
Savory
Mini samosas filled with potatoes and peas
Sweet
Assorted mithai including ladoos and kaju katli
Tea biscuits
Dates and fresh fruit
This variety of snacks and sweets worked wonderfully for tea. The bite size choices left my guests satisfied without feeling overwhelmed with full size samosas or sandwiches. We plated menu items across the table on tiered stands encouraging conversations and engagement. To save these recipes individually right click on the desired recipe and save as.
Keep following this space for the final part of this series where I’ll be sharing the full Tea Party reveal and a giveaway.
