Holi Family Photoshoot | Celebrating Holi, the festival of color with a family photoshoot with color smoke bombs and Holi ke raang.

Earlier this week we decided to play Holi at home. We knew a cold front was coming and decided to pre-pone the festivities. Throughout the last few weeks we’ve been celebrating Holi by doing crafts, reading books and decorating cookies.

In India you step out and it’s everywhere, you can’t help but feel festive during holidays. Street corners are buzzing and food stalls are serving up festival favorites. Since it’s not like that here, I try and make extra efforts at home to feel like a festival is approaching. Through our conversations, foods, and activities, we start a countdown of celebrations. Of course we can do all the activities and read all the books in the world but the real fun of Holi is playing with color. When Little Mirchi was a baby we played with eatable paint, this year however we played with the real deal, colored powder/rangoli.

I planned a fun photoshoot on our roof with Holi colors and color smoke bombs. Little Mirchi loved it, she was so amused by the color bombs and of course her favorite part was playing with the powered color.
