Fast forward to my first out of home/state Diwali, I remember ferociously cleaning my apartment and organizing everything to perfection. When my roommate walked in and asked why I was binge cleaning I remember blurting out “Lakshmi Ji won’t come if we don’t clean up.” That was my mother speaking (see Mom, it’s ingrained). After getting a good laugh out of my madness, my roommate joined in my Diwali ki safai.
Now as a Mom myself I try and pass those same habits on to Little Mirchi, donate often, keep your room and playroom neat and organized. The last minute cleaning is now a thing of the past, I try to spread our tasks out throughout the weeks leading up to Diwali so the feeling of preparation remains without getting overwhelmed. With Diwali being less than 3 weeks away, I’m sharing a simple Diwali ki safai checklist that will help you plan for the festival season.
How do you prepare for holidays and festivals? Do you space out your organizing and cleaning or do it all in one go?
