Namaste & Welcome!

about

I’m Nisha, creator and editor of Love Laugh Mirch. I started this blog in February 2011 as a passion project, a way to document my cooking experiments and newly wed life. For as long as I can remember the kitchen has been a place of love and childhood memories. Whether it was peeking over the counters to see my grandmother lovingly stuff her aloo parathas (potato flatbread), humoring my dad change his kebab recipe for the hundredth time, learning how to make homemade dahi (yogurt) from my Mom or learning a recipe via video chat as a newlywed, cooking has always played an integral role in my life. After getting married, I found myself trying to recreate that ghar ka khana taste {home cooked food} in my dishes while sharing my challenges. This love for cooking and preserving recipes passed on through generations inspired me to tell stories about the food I love. My list of favorites includes a hot cup of chai, anything mango and home cooked food.

Over time as we grew as a family, this blog as evolved to share motherhood moments, my love for Indian culture and our traditions. I’m a believer in ghar ka khana, Nani ke nushke, infusing the everyday with culture and family first. My primary influences are the food my parents prepared for me growing up and the culture they enriched me with.
